(NYSE: WCG), a provider of managed care services for Government-sponsored healthcare programs, today announced that it has been approved by the South Carolina Department of health and human services (SCDHHS) to offer Medicaid in six additional counties in the State, effective 1 January 2014. These counties are Charleston, Chesterfield, Greenwood, Kershaw, McCormick and Spartanburg. With this approval, WellCare will provide Medicaid Services in 46 counties of 45 on South Carolina.In addition, membership by Carolina Medical case (CMH) is expected to transition to WellCare on 1 January 2014, as a result of the changes that is making its SCDHHS program of healthy connections choices managed care Medicaid and WellCare's pending purchase of certain assets to CMH."This expansion will allow six County WellCare Medicaid Services to beneficiaries in almost every county in South Carolina," said Dave Shafer, President, WellCare of South Carolina.
